I work with painting, installation, video, sculpture and text. My work is inspired by e.g. science fiction, ecological sustainability, the study of perception, romantic landscape paintings and nature itself (by nature I mean the natural environment).

I am interested in mankind's contradictory relationship with nature; in how we destroy or render nature for economical purposes, at the same time as it serves as an aesthetic perimeter by which we measure our identity. In my work I try to discern how these conflicting interventions might affect the way I as an artist look at and relate to nature.

I experiment with the improbable prospect of relating to the landscape on nature´s terms rather than on mans terms. This is of course not easy, I´m not even sure that it´s possible from a physical or a philosophical point of view. But my goal is nevertheless to look at the world from a neutral perspective, and so I invent methods to try to make this happen.

As an extended and social part of my practice I run Velferden, a show room and culture centre located in a 50´s ballroom in a closed down mining area in Southwestern Norway. At Velferden I produce and curate exhibitions, residencies, concerts and arrange dialogues related to the local mining history, geology, tourism and contemporary art.
