I am an artist and freelancer based in Helsinki, Finland, working mostly with photography. My artistic work circulates in themes between the real and the unreal. I play with the way of seeing and the traditional form of a photograph. I also run an art space Kosminen in downtown Helsinki, together with a collective of the same name. We organize exhibitions, art happenings and book launches, pro bono. As a collective we also make art and zines together.

In the 'Landscapes' series my subject is the nature in Finland. Here in the north summer is very brief and quickly over. Before Christianity, Finland had a very rich folk religion. Most of the old Finnish folklores are based on deities of nature, and summer especially was seen as a mythical time of the year. These pictures were taken in a cabin in the middle of a forest, which is the common way to experience nature in modern day Finland. Afterwards the landscape is morphed by a machine. The outcome of this combination is a surreal image of nature elements entwined together.

My 'Love' series consist of photos that I have taken in my adolescent years, between the age of 20 and 25. They are diary photos, pictures of the people who were most important to me. In those days I shot everything from humdrum days to late night parties. From these pictures I have selected the most intimate details, the ones that makes my skin crawl. I want to re-create that feeling of intimacy that you can only achieve in close relationships.
